JOHNSTON FAMILY HISTORY
Mary Johnston had two daughters, Isabella (1873) and Mary Ann, when she married Chalmers Dickson. Chalmers was born in Aspatria. They had four more children; Frances, Jeanie, Dinah and Jack. 1) Isabella Johnston was born the 14 May 1873 in Ellenville, Cumberland, England to Chalmers Dickson and Mary Johnston. In February 1897 she married Robert Borthwick Mitchell. Robert was born the 6 July 1871 in Annan, Scotland. He died in 1934. She died the 4 February 1958. Robert died in 1934. Their children are: 1) Lawrence Borthwick Mitchell (1897), 2) Isaacina Johnston (Ina) Mitchell (1902), 3) Robert (Bob) Borthwick Mitchell (1906), 4) John James Mitchell (1909), 5) Isabella (Tibby) Johnston Mitchell (1910), 6) Francis Mary (Polly) Mitchell (1914). 2) Mary Ann Johnston was born to Chalmers Dickson and Mary Johnston. She married Bob Anderson. 3) Frances Dickson was born to Chalmers Dickson and Mary Johnston. She married William Ferguson. They have a daughter; Mary. 4) Jeanie Dickson was born to Chalmers Dickson and Mary Johnston. 5) Dinah Dickson was born to Chalmers Dickson and Mary Johnston. 6) Jack Dickson was born to Chalmers Dickson and Mary Johnston.
